Desert
Deserts are extremely hot and dry. Though, some deserts can be cold at night. Deserts cover one fifth of the Earth’s surface. Most of the hot and dry are usually near the Tropic of Cancer and the Tropic of Capricorn. Cold deserts are found near the Arctic part. The temperature ranges from 20 to 25° C. The maximum temperature for hot deserts are from 43.5 to 49° C. Cold deserts ranges from -2 to 4° C in winter and in summer, it is 21 to 26° C. Plants in the desert varies depending on where the desert is located. The plants adapt to the climate and capture water to survive. There are many reptiles, insects, birds and mammals living in the desert. Animals living in the desert have adapted to their habitat by staying in the shade of plants and rocks. Most desert animals stay inactive during the day and are active during the night. Deserts can be found in Australia, North Africa and the Middle East.
